SEA GAMES – BEHIND THE WIN: “CALUMNIA” ANDRE SORIANO
The Philippines’ very own Sibol League of Legends team bagged SILVER for the country in esports as the 31st Southeast Asian Games closed on May 22, 2022.
The team composed of Andre “Calumnia” Soriano, Emmanuel “yjyyyyyyyyyy” Tapang, Edward “Creshowo” Hortizuela, Raphael “RVL8” Retance, Elijah “ParzivaI” Canlas, and Van “Vansu” Alfonso found themselves on the receiving end of a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of the hosts.
The Gemucube team asked Calumnia some questions about the PH LoL Team about their journey.
HOW DID THE TEAM AND YOU PREPARED FOR THE SEA GAMES?
“Most of the time we worked on our skills individually by grinding ranked games, but 1 week before our flight we gathered for a short boot-camp and we worked out all our errors as a team, practicing all day that week.”
Calumnia
You know what they say practice makes perfect and eventually the team bagged silver and it paid off. They must’ve been focused hard since they are representing the Philippines.
WHAT’S IT LIKE COMPETING IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC?
“There was a lot of testing involved, so that our health was good at all times and we had to wear face masks. Overall it still felt so real and Vietnam accommodate us greatly.”
Calumnia
A big shout out to Vietnam for checking out and keeping our country pride safe and accommodated. Imagine competing must’ve been hard specially outside your home-court, you don’t know how to act and the place is not familiar. Without the pandemic I guess SEA GAMES would have been really smooth and fun. Imagine celebrating your win and enjoying Vietnam.
TELL US WHAT YOU FELT AFTER THE TEAM WAS AWARDED
“We all felt like it was a dream come true. Like we got what we wanted and all the hard work paid off. I think it’s safe to say that it’s one of the happiest and proudest moments of our life.”
Calumnia
WHAT WILL YOU SAY TO THE FANS SPECIALLY TO THOSE FANS WHO HAVE STRICT PARENTS THAT ARE ANGRY WITH ONLINE GAMING?
“Firstly we would like to thank all our fans and the people who supported us and cheered us on even during the bad times.”
“To those parents who are shockingly mad at their kids when they play games. I would like to say that everyone is special in their way.” Calumnia Added.
“Everyone has their passion and talent. I think they should at least be given the chance to do what they love doing.”
